An Exclusive Interview with Alyx Ransom
Where are you from, and how would you describe your music?
Alyx: I’m from the Eastside of Atlanta, and my music is authentic to me - definitely a vibe. I make music for bad bitches and bad bitches only. If other people appreciate it, I love that, too. But my main focus is creating music for women who are out there hustling, chasing their dreams, and loving life. It’s really motivational music for women.
How would you describe your personal style?
Alyx: For me, comfort is everything. I have to feel good in whatever I wear - it’s a must. But I also love my heels. They’re non-negotiable because I’m not as tall as people think I am, so heels help me feel elevated. I’m big on vibrant colors like pink and purple; they make me feel alive. I avoid wearing blacks and grays because they give me a more gangster vibe, and that’s just not where I’m at right now.
You mentioned “10 Piece” is out now. Can you tell us more about it?
Alyx: “10 Piece” is one of my favorite tracks. It’s inspired by real-life events - something I went through where I could’ve ended up in jail, but luckily, I didn’t. At that time, I was feeling myself and wanted to make something relatable for all the bad bitches out there. It’s about popping your shit and owning your vibe.
How would you describe the music you make?
Alyx: I like to call it “Bad Bitch Party Music.” It’s dance-party vibes but with bars that are definitely in your face. I bring my princess bars every time I rap. It’s fun, it’s confident, and it’s meant to make you feel good while still giving you something real.
You’ve had some big brand placements. Can you share a little about those?
Alyx: Yeah, my song “Fist Bump” has been featured in two major campaigns. The first was for the Bose Soundlink Max Campaign, and the second was for the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses commercial starring Tinashe. Both opportunities came through collaborations with Versa Music Group and The Mezzo Agency. It’s been amazing to see my music in those spaces.
How did you connect with your producer, Lex On The Board?
Alyx: We first met at QC Studio while working on some records for City Girls. We were in the zone, and people kept saying I should keep some of those tracks for myself. Eventually, I decided to run with it. Since then, we’ve created songs like “10 Piece,” “Trap Dollaz,” and “Fist Bump.” Lex and I are in the studio all the time - it’s where the magic happens.
You started as a songwriter and were part of an R&B group, right?
Alyx: That’s right. I was in an R&B girl group called Levi Johnson. We were moving around a lot, performing, and doing press runs. During that time, I really got into songwriting and working behind the scenes in the music business. That experience shaped me and prepared me for stepping into the spotlight as an artist.
What’s next for Alyx Ransom?
Alyx: More music, more vibes, and more empowerment for women out there doing their thing. I’m staying true to my sound and bringing even more Bad Bitch Party Music to the world. This is just the beginning, and I’m excited for what’s next.
Any final words for your listeners?
Alyx: Keep hustling, keep loving life, and don’t let anyone dim your light. We’re all bad bitches in our own way, and my music is here to remind you of that every step of the way.
